"You have no idea how happy I am right now," Elara laughed as Merlin for the third time this week was being pelted with rotten fruit. 

Merlin sighed, "yes, yes, go on, laugh your heart out, don't mind me, I'm just here suffering amongst a putrid pile of decayed food scraps."

Elara rolled her eyes, "oh here we go," she chuckled, crossing her arms, "you always did have a flare for the dramatic, didn't you." 

The young man scoffed playfully, "I'm sorry," he smirked, "but did you just call my pain dramatic?"

Elara picked up an over-ripe, red tomato which lay at the base of Merlin's feet and lightly mushed it all over his face. 

It fell to the ground with a squelch a moment later, revealing Merlin's stunned face. His eyes were wide and his mouth was agape in shock. 

"Elara!" He shouted playfully. "You know I can just give you a big hug later and I can even all this out."

Elara chuckled, her right hand flying up to her chest in mock-shock, "now that's not how your mother taught you to treat ladies of the court now is it?" 

Merlin smiled cheekily, "good thing you're not one."
