The world is now in constant chaos and very hard to live in. Almost all signs of life in the whole world are wiped out and have been replaced by these purple like creatures who can change shape and destroy everything it touches. But even with all this, human life has somehow managed to survive by living in these heavily protected places called "Gardens". Gardens are primarily run by robots and have few humans on them. One of these humans is a boy named Mikael. He is very well educated, and smarter than the average, but because of that the people his age start to avoid him and now he doesn't have many friends and is scared of interacting with new people, except for his best friend Raphael. They have been together since childhood and they promise to never break apart. But one day Mikael and Raphael accidentally went out of the garden and saw the outside world. They then got chased by the shape-shifting creatures and nearly got themselves killed. While Mikael safely went back inside, Raphael was trapped outside never to be seen again. Years later, Mikael, now an adult, tries to go out on an adventure, to find his one and only friend.
