Long before Beth Harmon came onto the chess scene, Benny was the big US chess prodigy, however, he's not quite the benny watts we all adore, at At least Not yet.
Y/n Y/l/n moves from backwater Maine to New York City with her father and stepmother Erica, instantly being thrown into the high strung madness of her junior year instantly being branded as the school weirdo. However, Benny finds he is unstoppably drawn to her impressive outspoken nature and the two begin a friendship that as time goes on turns soon into something more, but with hormones, chess, school work, bullies, family and changes that come with maturing and becoming adults these changes both welcome and unwelcome are what have to be done to truly become who they are meant to be.
