I was inspired to write this both due to me being sick and the intensity with which I was coughing (I imagined something forcing it's way up my throat, given how hard I was coughing), and by a creepypasta called "The man who ate ghosts", by Michael Paige. Check that story out sometime! It's good. Really good. It partially inspired this incomplete horror short story I wrote after all.
