The small-town wallflower has returned to her humble home of Elk Mountain, Wyoming. Sawyer Taylor starts her new adventure of teaching in her old high school as the primary Ag teacher. With all the new beginnings, old stories can be rewritten. Sawyer must now learn how to maneuver through the adult world and help run her father's rehabilitation ranch with the help of an old friend- Quinn Lucas, the golden boy rodeo star. Quinn has his own issues at hand to deal with as well. He works to better his career to keep ranching the same land they have for years. Through many tears and fighting, someone must show Quinn that work is important, but so is his happiness. Sawyer must work to get over her guilt of leaving Elk Mountain and see if this is where she wants to live for good.

Having endured years of being bullied by him, when Lucas left town to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, all Allie could think was 'good riddance'.
