You'll find out that there are legends surrounding the deep parts of Augural Hills when you ask the people who live on the outskirts. Many of the villages have their own twist to the story, but all have similarities.
A cult? Kidnapping and murdering people all over the peninsula? Demons prowling about? Yes, there are mysterious disappearances happening, but it sounds too absurd to catch the attention of officials.
But the villagers still believe it. It's impossible not to when people who know plenty about the cult disappeared once they enter the woods.
Augural County does exist.
