The night breeze blew hard enough to cut like a razors through the jackets of the party-goers, decorated in festive lights and glittery makeup. The entire town square was a mess of alcohol and giggling pedestrians that shoved elbow to elbow to pick up the cheap beaded-necklaces and candy that fell on the ground. Their own Mardi gras-like-parade that was held every year for Christmas. A common topic among the adults of town, especially in Raine's demographic.

Young twenty-somethings with nothing but college debts and bad decisions to get through. It wasn't hard to forget about your troubles and drink until morning, and that's precisely what led to her untimely death. In most cases it'd be heartbreaking to hear that someone has died, but in Raine's case that would be the most humane thing that she would beg for.

I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself. Perhaps we should start where it all went wrong, where fate met death, and left a nasty taste on the tongue of life.
