Their eyes gazed in terror at their home. The windows spewed smoke. Flames licked the walls.
A scream came from within. Kara began to run in, but Hunter grabbed her quickly.
"No! Mom's in there!" Kara cried, kicking and struggling to get free.
Hunter jerked her away, putting their backs to the fire. "She's gone!"
"No!! No! No." Tears ran down Kara's face as she doubled over and sobbed.
