What if when Nightmare left D̶r̶e̶a̶m̶Emotiontale [awful name I know, just bear with me, I have a plan. Not saying it's a good one but it exists] the au glitched essentially resetting but without Nightmare. Nightmare is now officially an outcode and Dream... Dream is a 6 year old guardian going through life alone, not knowing why it feels like something is wrong, why something is missing. Nightmare goes back to his old au only to find, things are wrong and different. Dreamtale? What is this?

No smut, ships, or cursing once again and please try not to swear in the comments. If you have any advice for me, it would be welcome.
I do not own any characters or aus except for the villagers with names. None of this is canon. There will be canon elements but this will be my own take. I am very new at fanfiction so please be nice.

Nightmare had been alone in his head for the longest time. For 500 years he was able to gain more power, a castle, a gang, and a reputation of one of the most dangerous beings in the multiverse. But when Dream had broken out of stone, someone else made themselves known, someone who should have been dead. OR Corrupted Nightmare is a parasite and Passive Nightmare refuses to die. Expectations and a Golden Stitch-A DreamError/Insomnia Fanfic
Dream always felt the weight of expectations on his shoulders and they've only grown worse now that he's a Star Sans. Save this AU, rescue that person, stop Nightmare over there, and make X person smile! It's a never-ending cycle of tasks and he gets asked more about why he hasn't done it sooner or defeated his brother yet than thanked for what he accomplished. He feels trapped in this position and doubts if he didn't have his positive aura that anyone would care for him. Most like him for the joy he brings or what he can give them. Nobody around him ever feels genuine without a doubt in his head. Add in the stress of protecting one Star Sans(Swap) and keeping the other(Ink) from starting trouble and you have a positive guardian ready to break under expectations. Then you have Error, the destroyer of AUs. His reputation speaks for himself and builds all the expectations he needs whenever he steps foot into another AU. He's as bad an omen as a black cat crossing your path. Others assume he is bad because of his "freakish" or glitching appearance. He has accepted these but it gets tiring when he already has the voices bossing him around or Fate reminding him that he should do more destruction. But he doesn't limit himself to destruction. He watches UnderNovela, admires the stars, and appreciates what he can. He pushes the limits of what is expected of him or disregards them completely. A trait that Dream eventually finds himself admiring in him, the known enemy of his friend. He knows that Error's feelings are genuine since he doesn't change in his presence(still an angry manchild). So when Dream gets wounded and stuck with Error on a whim, where will it take them? Will it be a mistake remaining in a hatred of enemies or will it change them both for the better? Could this admiration open Error up to corrupting Dream or will he be the influence Dream needs to against expectations and live for himself?Concluída
