Kurt was captured after assisting KMS Bismarck from meeting her ultimate destruction. Ultimately saving her life. As such, when the war ends, and he is released from the PoW camps, he is confronted and thanked by the once mighty Bismarck. With the war over, and the Iron Bloods, once more being stripped of military and navy, granted, on a far less harsh scale than before.
