Follow the story of Maria-May Cooper as she lives on after a terrible incident that costs her the peace of mind she is so desperate to hang on to. SHE COULDN'T unsee what she saw, but she couldn't speak of it either. At eleven years old Maria-May understood more than she should about the darkness that lurked in the corners of StoneyVille, South Carolina. She saw the monsters hidden in the shadows, knew why some people chose death over life. She didn't understand why people were silent about what happened in the darkness, why they didn't speak up against the demons that haunted them. She didn't understand why she didn't speak up for those people, the ones terrified of what happens after the sun goes down, Until one day she does understand. But even though she understands why they never speak of what goes on after the lights go out, she can't shake the feeling that she needs to do what none of the others have yet. She needs to take a breath, breathe in and speak. -.-.-.-.- ⚠️⚠️TRIGGER WARNINGS⚠️⚠️ This book contains talk about rape, abuse, self-harm, and other dark things that may be hard for some readers to read. Please be cautious going forward.
