Follow the story of Maria-May Cooper as she lives on after a terrible incident that costs her the peace of mind she is so desperate to hang on to.
SHE COULDN'T unsee what she saw, but she couldn't speak of it either. At eleven years old Maria-May understood more than she should about the darkness that lurked in the corners of StoneyVille, South Carolina. She saw the monsters hidden in the shadows, knew why some people chose death over life. She didn't understand why people were silent about what happened in the darkness, why they didn't speak up against the demons that haunted them.
She didn't understand why she didn't speak up for those people, the ones  terrified of what happens after the sun goes down, Until one day she does understand. But even though she understands why they never speak of what goes on after the lights go out, she can't shake the feeling that she needs to do what none of the others have yet.
She needs to take a breath, breathe in and speak.

Maria wasn't sure why or how the entity haunted her; she never played with a ouija bound and she never chanted Bloody Mary in her bathroom but on this particular day, when she was home alone, a huge terrifying Monster pounced on her from her closet and attacked her in her own room, the Monster itself was a huge, horrifying, sinister entity with startling glowing yellow eyes that seemed to stare into her soul. The Monster seems to only be interested in Maria and targets her specifically, She has no clue as to why it's haunting her, no, hunting her, but she's determined to find out and put a stop to it before it can send the grim reaper her way.
