The ancestors in MoonClan are slowly dissapearing without any warning. Fawnleap, the young medicine cat apprentice of MeadowClan, wonders about what it's really like being a medicine cat and why she has very little connection with MoonClan. Meanwhile, the young AshClan warrior Raccoonheart develops feelings for Shadowmask, but little does she know he is not who she thinks he is, while Ottermist of BayClan suffers the loss of her relatives and hopes she will eventually discover why their fate was decided, while also struggling with being half-blooded. Together, they must go on a long and risky journey to find out all the mysteries.
