Call Al Squires many things: a special agent, a crime-fighter, a Magick-user, a mad scientist, a genius, a trickster, a philosopher, among others. Of course, you can also call him not-so-nice things: like 'pompous,' 'annoying,' and 'a lunatic'; but let's not dwell on the negative. However, in this second addition in the Al Squires of the Protectorate series, Al's adding a new name to the list: TIME TRAVELER!

After Al and his new partner/trainee, Norah Navarro, have a 'chance' encounter with a mysterious witch on a foggy night, they're then called to their HQ for an emergency meeting along with the usual suspects.

They then learned that their Division has been asked to help agents from Ouroboros, an ally organization in charge with time travel and anything Time-related, who are tasked to catch a time-traveling serial killer who has murdered four of their agents. It's strikes a definite cord when they find out that one of the victims is Sylvie Parish, the Division's Forensics expert/Ouroboros Liaison/ Al's frenemy.

Of course, it doesn't strike as big a cord than it does with Sylvie, who was right there at the meeting, alive and well!

So, in order to save Sylvie (and the other three) from being murdered, Al and Norah- along with their friends and fellow agents and a few Ouroboros agents- must travel back in time to prevent each murder from happening. However, there is one setback that may prove a hindrance to the mission: The emitter that Al wears that keeps his Lodestone side-affects in check has been sabotaged. That means he has to deal with all sorts of strangely horror-themed weirdness; including (but not limited to) Disco Zombies, Black Magick Hippies, and worse! And he and Norah can't tell anyone about it because the witch placed a spell on them that prevents them from telling anyone this.

So, other than that, Sylvie's going to be fine...right?

A few dark sabbatical years between university studies mark the past of Timothy, who has a few more memories, of a few more things, than he knows what to do with. He is now trying to restart a study path already once forsaken, in a human life that isn't quite his. A young man in a fragile human body, with a vampire's soul. With the start of a new academic year, he finds old acquaintances and new friends. Clover is a witch, with her magical powers equaling those of an oven glove. And she suspects one of their friends to be possessed by a demon. Lavender however is blissfully oblivious of her friend's suspicions and thinks she is losing her mind with vivid nightmares and huge gaps in her memory. Valentina, meanwhile, would be happy with just one recovered memory. She would love to know how she became tattooed, or even just what the Chinese character on her ankle means. But, as some of her friends know, the price of that one memory might be set higher than she is willing to pay. (There are some ethically interesting choices from the main characters, thus the mature rating. But nothing graficly shocking should be included, just a couple of murders discussed that could absolutely not be avoided.) (All characters are strictly fictional. I feel this should be highlighted, for while inspiration is always tied to the outer world, imagination composes a story out of it and colors the outcome with dreams and nightmares.) Basically Psych, only with the Shadowhunters cast and mixed with whatever my mind decides to run away with. Magnus has an eidetic memory, he can pick out the most sublet things and follow them to the right answer. He uses it to solve cases, help the police, and generally wreak havoc. Not only does it annoy and embarrass his dad, It gives him a chance to annoy/shamelessly flirt with the gorgeous, though really uptight, head detective, Alexander Lightwood. So, you know, Win, win. Shadowhunters To Psych Characters Conversion: Magnus= (Shawn) Alec= (Lassie) Raphael=(Gus) -Raphael is Ace BTW Simon=(Juliette)-Simon is Pan, just because Luke=(Chief Vick) Also, Magnus' dad is prettymuch just Henry from psych, sorry, I didn't have a Shadowhunter equivalent, So he's just 'Henry Bane' -I know, I know, creativity abounds! -Just FYI, I'm adding these from my AO3 account, so I left in notes if they seemed necessary ( or funny) Note**** Because This is a series it will take longer for things to progress in Magnus and Alec's relationship.Sorry! I don't like to rush the progression. I Know how I'm gonna get them together, but I need to build up to it a bit, so maybe be patient, Please? This may seem pretty ambitious, but I kind of see this series as like each entry reads like an episode of the show. - Each one with have some kind of case, Relationship progression- It may be slow but it will be moving (again patience, please!) Random hijinx- psych style probably at least a few sweet moments leave on a good/happy note- because, at heart I am a bit of a sap and want everyone to be happy ( readers included) Anyways, Here is the beginning. Let's see where this is gonna go, shall we?

Now just as my life is moving slower than a gator with a full belly, the worst happens. I get the call about a homicide that's hit too close to home. It leaves the girl of my dreams coming home to face tragedy. The moment I see her I find myself reminded of the one secret no one ever knew. Ever since I was eight years old I have felt many different things for Emma O'Neal, and those feelings haven't disappeared with time. Otherwise, I might end up losing something far more precious to me than the honor I've worked so hard for: Emma's life.

After re-reading Engines of Alchemancy in preparation for writing the 3rd book in the series, I decided to post the entire book on Wattpad. It's a good story, and I'd love to have readers such as yourself give it a try. Engines of Alchemancy is the 1st book in The Alchemancer series. It's followed by The Nullification Engine and The Inversion Solution. You can find out more about The Alchemancer series and my other books here: https://www.scottmarlowe.com/page/the-alchemancer *** Infernal engines consume the world and only a sorcerer's apprentice who knows nothing about magic can stop them. The Alchemancer series begins. Chaos erupts in the Barony of Fallmere when a surprise elemental attack destroys Norwynne Keep. Aaron Shepherd and Shanna Bonnerman survive, but Shanna is soon lost in the fallout of the keep's destruction while Aaron is forced to flee for his life. Unbeknownst to Aaron, Shanna becomes a captive of the enemy who destroyed their home. This enemy, a savant who claims to follow the path of science, speaks of ancient, infernal devices and a quest to reclaim the greatest of them all. Certain the savant means to kill her, Shanna is instead surprised when she finds herself embarking upon the adventure of a lifetime. Meanwhile, only the worst of nightmares awaits Aaron. Pursued by dwarven raiders, mad sorcerers, and a host of demons who will not stop until he is dead, the only thing keeping him alive is his own wits and an eslar mercenary whose reputation as a killer might make him the worst threat of all. Though Aaron and Shanna travel different paths, their purposes align when they each learn of a mysterious device known as the Fifth Element. Shanna sees it as the final piece of the puzzle that is her destiny. To Aaron's logical mind, it is an impossible ambiguity. Whatever the answer, the Fifth Element draws them back together and into a final confrontation where science and sorcery will collide.

Hidden in the Blood: A Novel of the Terribly Acronymed Detective Club (Book 5) by MikeDePaoli
68 parts Complete
By the end of the last novel of the Terribly Acronymed Detective Club, "The Hero Next Time," Al Mackenzie, husband of Rachel, adoptive father to Logan and Emma, was still in a coma after a terrible car accident. This fifth novel in the series opens with a subdued LSDC, three of whose members are injured or out of commission, all of them hoping Al will wake up. Unbeknownst to them, Al isn't just lying there; he's gaining a few insights of his own with the help of a couple of guides, one of whom happens to be the ghost of the man he thought was his father. By the time he wakes, he'll know his real father is alive and still out there, and there's a whole family of half-siblings he'll need to reconnect with. Into this battered and bruised group comes a blast from Al's past: Agnes, a former girlfriend, on the run and far from home, with two kids in tow. Her husband's a cop, and he may have committed a murder, and he's just transferred to the Langley detachment of the RCMP, where Sergeant Joanie Mara, reeling from a betrayal from Joe, is immediately attracted to him, unaware of his past. Joanie, who's always played a supporting role with the LSDC, shines in this first novel to feature her narrative as she takes on the role of media relations officer, outwits a stalker, and inevitably finds herself ensnared in a revenge plot stretching hundreds of miles back to a family used to getting what it wants and willing to kill to get it. If Joanie is to survive, she'll need the help of everyone in the LSDC, even if they're not at their best: Joe, her former lover; Lauren, Joe's wife and a private investigator who first discovered the plot; Rachel, the woman behind Joe's betrayal; Sunny, a family lawyer who helps Agnes free herself from her marriage; Tej, Sunny's wife and a real estate agent, who has her own first-time narrative in this book; and finally, Al, whose new family connections bring him and Agnes back to the place from where Agnes fled, and into the lion's den.
