Due to the raging corporate greed of a future planet Earth, the land's resources have been usurped and used until nothing left remains. Most of the planet is now a scorching hot wasteland. The Survivors have moved to high-tech bunkers underground as to not get burned to a crisp, yet it is still difficult to live below.
Dr. Robert Hall, a bright yet blunt scientist/inventor has created the crowning jewel of his inventions: a robot that can convert martian soil into breathable air on Mars! With the help of his brilliant assistant, Dr. Katherine Leblanc, his long-time friend Podder Siedov and his robot companion RASPA, he is ready to take the remaining human population to space.

Rather than their dreams of taming a planet, they settled for living with a place never meant for humans. Kierst is one of the descendants of those early settlers and works on the interior of one the domes. His job gives him the solitude he prefers with both work and home. He has no family and no friends, which is one of the reasons he is chosen to learn the truth about what happened to Earth and why everyone on Mars must return. He is among a small group who are entrusted with the greatest secret of his government. If his group fails, there will be no future for those living on Mars. Survivors of the Earth seek to break in and cause tension within Project Inspiron. Their ways of infiltrating the grounds of the complex bring about a threatening situation to the crew of Project Inspiron at the same time when the Doctor and Ace arrive. The answer to the sabotage and interference from the outcasts comes about with the advent of the Mondasian Cybermen. At first, their intentions are positive for the future of mankind.
