Year 1920,
A young lad in his early twenties, Barrister Anirudh Roy Chowdhury returns from London with the aspirations of changing hideous customs. He gets a companion in his journey when he have to marry the chiry, jubilant and strong witted girl Bondita, in the pretext of saving her from being sati. 
Their similarly in thoughts make their relationship grew rapidly. Bondita perceives education and becomes a barrister like her husband, going against the society. But will she be save from the evil eyes of the society even after she becomes a barrister. 
What will happen when they will try to kill her by pushing her to the river?
Who will save her?

Both are against and resist Sati pratha,inequality based on caste and gender, menstrual taboos, child marriage and so many taboos which were common those days.
