When I met him on a rainy afternoon the air smelt like gardenias. My black oxford pumps were soaked from accidentally stepping on a puddle, and the tiny yellow umbrella I held up barely saved me from the chilly rain. When I met him on a rainy afternoon, the sky was pink and blue. I was starving and almost craving to smell the stuffy scent of my closed up home's small living room. When I met him on a rainy afternoon, his son held my feet out of the blue and called me 'mum'. He rushed out of the restaurant only seconds later, his cheeks a pale flushed hue. When I met him one day on a rainy afternoon, he looked up into my eyes and apologized. Tragedy can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere, and the saddest part about that truth is that tragedy is unavoidable. No one can prevent a natural disaster from happening. No one can prevent death from knocking on their doorstep - if it's an accident, or a sickness - it cannot be prevented, and it cannot be avoided. You never know on which day tragedy will come knocking on your front door. You never know who it would strike next - if it would be you, or someone else, or someone who is very close to you. The thing is, with tragedy, it doesn't ask questions before it strikes. It just does. River and Sophia were two people who experienced the same tragedy: loss, but their stories were very different from each other, but they shared the same pain of losing someone they loved, someone who was close to them. And now, suffering the aftermath of their tragedies - living with the guilt, the regret, and the grief of losing someone that was close to them, they have to try to overcome everything, before their tragedy ruins their lives forever. I can remember the fear of the tree falling in front of my car, after it was struck by lightning. I can remember how it felt, cold rain on a summer afternoon pounded on my skin as I stepped out of my car. I was headed home to my parents house after graduating college. I remember the security I felt when he showed up, and told me everything would be okay, and to stay in my car. I remember the rain stopping and him getting to work removing the tree. I remember when his gray eyes looked into my green ones, as he woke me up to tell me it was clear. I remember my heart never beat the same after him.Complete
