Frankie loves his brother Karyl and their little sister Alin too. Life isn't easy on their remote property in the Okanagan Valley, with a violent father and beaten-down mom. And when the gypsy woman moves into the trailer by the lake, Karyl starts to change in frightening ways.

Frankie will grow up to be a cop, calling himself John Tamblyn and putting his past behind him. Karyl will grow up to be something far more terrifying, and that trailer in isolated British Columbia is where it begins.

This story can be read independently of the BLOOD & MAGIC series, or at any time after you've read up to Chapter Ten of THE LAST RITE. The events take place before any of the series novels, and don't worry, it won't spoil anything (as long as you wait until the end of Chapter Ten. . .)

But it will either introduce you to the mysterious, morally ambivalent, ruthless Hunt, aka The Hunter, or take you into his past and the meaning behind the words, "Flesh and blood."
