I was sitting at work one day when this story just came to me. As someone with a service dog, there are no fictional books about the life of a person with a service dog. I really wanted to bring to life what its like to be a service dog handler in high school, balancing relationships, friends, life events, and having a chronic illness. This story follows Ella, a 17 year old junior in high school who moves to a town in Florida with her family and her black lab service dog named Clove. Ella was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome when she was 13 and got a service dog to help with her disabilities. Please enjoy my story, and for other service dog handlers, I see you and I hear you.
