For Charlotte, the perfect summer consists of total relaxation, cold lemonade, and picnics on the beach with her partner, Kai. Or at least, that's what she had imagined. Up until her partner, Kai, cheated on her, that is.

It's the summer before senior year and Charlotte is instead doing nothing but wallowing in her own pity and despair. She barely leaves her room and is stuck up on rereading the texts she and Kai would send to each other. 

That's why Marie--Charlotte's fun, energetic, and kindhearted classmate proposes an idea to the grieving girl. "Why don't we date for the summer?"

It seems like a decent idea. A non-committal, summer-only romance that allows both girls to have the "perfect" summer they both had dreamed of. All of it, no-strings-attached.

And so they both agree to this girlfriend pact. Who needs real love when you've got a contract?
