Ten years ago, a horrible beast took the life of Kazuma's father. When news reaches the Mikotoba family that the monster has once again stolen a life out in the British countryside, Susato joins Kazuma, her father, and their friend Ryunosuke on a long journey to investigate the disappearances. But Kazuma's desire for vengeance is enflamed by a local hunter who relentlessly seeks to slay the beast, and soon he is consumed by a new purpose: training to kill. 

As they settle warily into the village, Susato finds herself taking up a task that throws her into a strange manor surrounded by a permanent mist. And directly into the path of that same beast. Struck by the beast's haunted eyes, Susato's fear for her life begins to wither beneath a sense of compassion that will lead to a startling discovery.
