Her life was meant to be a song. That's what her mother used to say. And she believed it. For a time. Only, instead of the catchy, funky pop song with an edge it used to be; it's now looking to be more of a depressing country song, headed for sad elevator playlists.

But, beggars can't be choosers. Isn't that what they say?

Saint Emery dreams of escaping her county controlled, group home life. And she has a plan. It depends on her music. It got her in to the most exclusive prep school in town on a full ride. And it can certainly get her to college. And beyond.

And if she could somehow catch the eye or the heart of her best friend in the world, that would be even better.

But guys like Crew James, football god and son of a high profile senator, don't end up with girls from the group home.
Even if he is the very best thing in her disheveled little world.
Even if his father is the keeper of one of her darkest secrets.
Even if he is the reason for her senior year being the worst year of her life.

Even then. She would still take him. In any way she could.
Because her life is a song. And this one, doesn't have a happy ending without him.

Tears started to swell in my eyes so I looked back down at my lap, "It's okay..." I was quickly cut off when his other hand reached up towards my face. He grabbed my chin softly before forcing me to look back up at him. "Don't bullshit me Angel. It's not okay, and it's okay to not be okay either." After really dissecting his words I couldn't hold back any longer. The tears started to uncontrollably stream down my face. Without another word he slides over closer to me and pulls me into the side of his chest, holding me tightly. Emery Miller, a 19 year old aspiring photographer moves to Outer Banks North Carolina a year after her older sister, Leah goes missing. Emery doesn't expect much out of life, at least not anymore. Not since she's been let down by every person who has ever made a promise to her. She keeps her head down, doesn't step on anyone's toes, doesn't rely on anyone & that's how she likes it. She lives a simple life in the shadows with her nose buried deep in books & her camera strap always over her neck just in case. That was until a certain mysterious musician who lives next door takes an interest to her. Luca St. James is everything Emery tries to stay away from. The popularity, the looks, the money, the devilish personality that keeps her on her toes. The 21 year old lead singer has it all. No matter how infuriating he is, she just can't seem to stay away from him & he can't seem to stay away either. No matter how hard he tries.

Not every blonde is stupid. In the South if you're a beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed girl high expectations are made. Either you're not extremely smart, so you find yourself a suitable husband to take care of you. Or you are smart and you just pretend to be dumb so you find yourself a suitable husband to take care of you. All her life Avery Skinner has been told what to do and how to do it- by everyone. By her mother, the girls she calls friends, the guys in school, teachers, family, even Mark the mailman. Needless to say, she's sick of it. Its time Avery took control of her life or at least get a firm grip on the sucker. She's loved football ever since she was a little girl. Yet she could never play because ladies aren't supposed to do such barbaric things. Especially in the South- unless its a rodeo and you're wearing those ridiculously tight outfits that show you're navel or showing you can hold your liquor. Avery has longed to be on the field, throwing the ball instead of cheering on the team her dad coaches that can't seem to win. Then her best friend Austin forces Avery to and for sometime everyone is fooled. But the truth can only be hidden for so long. The moment the townsfolk of Stonehenge, Alabama learned it was a girl under that helmet, was the moment true colors showed. It hasn't been easy and it won't get any better but Avery is here to play. * Avery is going to face REAL life problems, and not nice people. She's going to deal with sexual harassment, mean words, rude people, pregnancy, injuries, steroids, etc.. In this story I want to exemplify how sexist and cruel humans can be. There will be hard moments, but I want to put it out there because it IS a serious problem. Harsh language and such will be present. You have been warned, don't read it then complain. Emery Rayne. Everyone expects you to have the perfect life when you have rich parents. They assume that you've grown up getting anything and everything you want. Money has never been the problem for my parents. Their problem was me. And once I turned nineteen, I left. I've always wanted to leave because they never loved me growing up. They were too into their own rich life that they completely neglected and abandoned me. I wanted to escape. And now that I finally have, I couldn't be happier. Unexpectedly rooming with two hockey players whose lives revolve around hockey wasn't a problem for me. That was until a blue eyed- tattooed boy showed me how beautiful love can be. I wasn't suppose to fall for the captain of the hockey team. I try not to like him, but I fall even harder. But I carry a heavy past around my shoulders and when those two familiar people threaten me with Havens life, I'm stuck between choosing his happiness or mine. My parents make me feel like I can't have Haven West. And if I'm being honest, even I don't know if I can have him. But he calls me his special person. He's my special person. Haven West. The only thing I've ever cared about was hockey and the people that raised me. I grew up with parents that held a knife to my neck and destroyed my image of happiness. When she moved in, I hated it. When a month passed by, I couldn't help but take her out on a night drive, smiling at how tight she holds me. There's no one like her. She was the one that made me laugh because of how fucking silly she is. She saw me when all I've ever wanted was for my parents to love me. I fucked myself up getting attached to her. Because now, I'm addicted to her. I'm a smiling bastard whenever she's around. I'm broken and never believed in love but I can't let her go because she's what I would describe heaven to be like. Loving Emery Rayne is the best fucking feeling.

Sometimes you may even get to caught up in the fictional world that you don't realise it IS fictional. Then when you do realise life isn't what you convinced yourself it would be, there is only one possible outcome. Depression. Which may lead to anxiety, self-harm, low self esteem, and worst of all, losing the people you love. Life works in weird ways. Not just for you but for others too. Take Cassidy Rivers for example. Her life is far from perfect. No parents, over protective big brother, few friends, and Asher Norman, the bad boy who won't stop picking on her. Could life get any worse for Cassidy?
