Kingdom of Deceit

Seventeen-year-old Julianna Berlotte possesses magic in a kingdom where magic is punishable by death. When she is caught using magic on the outskirts of her village, she and her best friend, Ethan, have no choice but to run from the guards and hide in the forest.
Along the way, Julianna remembers a cryptic riddle that she'd found in an old book. With no other options, she and Ethan follow it in hopes that whatever they find will absolve Julianna of her crimes.
As the two of them get closer and closer to solving the riddle, they find that they have accidentally become involved in something much bigger than either of them could have ever imagined.
The more they discover, the more Julianna begins to realize that not all people are exactly as they seem. Sometimes, those closest to you are the ones you should fear the most.
