The New Year had just arrived, and the Kamado family was looking forward to spending it with their dear friends, the Tokitos. But fate had other plans in store for them. Nezuko, Tanjiro's younger sister, fell ill, and their plans were thrown into disarray. As such, Tanjiro and his cousin Muichiro set out to find medicine but ended up spending the night with an old man named Saburo.

Although he welcomed them warmly, Tanjiro couldn't help but feel uneasy about the situation.
As the night wore on, Saburo shared a story with them of man-eating demons. Kings of the night. Tanjiro and Muichiro aware of the existence of demons didn't payed much attention and spent their night warm and comfortable.

The next morning, they set off back toward the Kamado household. But as they made their way up the mountain, they couldn't help but notice something was amiss. The air felt heavy, and the forest was eerily quiet. What awaited them at the end of their journey was something they could never have expected. It was a day that would change their lives forever.
