Keith meets Chris one day at lunch time during his junior year of high school, and both of them immediately bond. Ashly Perez, Chris' best friend, also makes time to get to know Keith better, as she had a good first impression of him. When both of them get accepted to the same university after graduation, Keith introduces Chris to Eugene Lee Yang, his friend back in elementary school, after finding out that he was accepted to the university as well. Chris confides to Keith about being interested in Eugene, but Keith sternly warned that Eugene was already in a relationship.
