This is a non-fiction, autobiographical account of my first boyfriend, and the abuses I endured at his hands. Tying in my experiences growing up in a cult and a rocky history with toxic family members, I explore the reasons why I accepted the violence I experienced, how it affected my own child, and how we overcame it.

Rafe Burne has endured years of abuse from his father. Now out of rehab due to heroin addiction and a juvenile detention center due to dealing drugs, Rafe is placed with a foster family. As he tries to navigate his new life, his past begins to creep back into his life. Living with a police officer and a courthouse employee forces Rafe to clean up his act, but habits are hard to kick and Rafe soon finds himself spiraling. He needs to decide if he's going to follow in his father's footsteps or accept the help he's been offered.

Ryan has a lot of problems, the biggest that his boyfriend is an abusive asshole. To name a few others he is bullied at school, broke and compleatly in love with a someone he can never have. He tries to stay away, but the worse his life gets the harder it becomes to fight his feelings. Out of all his demons the one he loves is the one he can't escape.

Her best friend drives her to school and they have an awkward conversation about her readiness. Leila decides to go to class, but is unsure if she's ready to face everyone and everything.
