A modern retelling of J. M. Barrie's 1904 Peter Pan. Imagination has long since faded in Windsor Darling. He no longer plays pirates or wants to hear his mother's bedtime stories. Now on the cusp of eighteen years old, Windsor longs to leave his childhood home and escape into the world alone. His parents aren't quite ready to let him go. His father expects him to follow in his footsteps, while his mother can't wait to marry him off. He dreams of a way to write his own path. Or at the very least have a say in the direction his life is heading. An act of rebellion forces his parents to ground him for the last month of the school year. They forced him to watch over his younger siblings every weekend while his friends have fun. He couldn't wait for the last month of school to pass so that he could graduate. At least university would mean some escape from his family. Or that's how he expected the future ahead of him to go. On the last weekend of the school year, Windsor listens to his younger siblings' wild tales. Stories of fairies, pirates, and mermaids, Windsor tucks them to bed shaking his head. He holds his tongue, it's not his place to take the magic from them. It's not like Peter Pan is real? What's so wrong with an imaginary friend?
