The year was 1875, with the dust of the civil war still settling and slaves being freed thanks to the hard work of the union, life becomes confusing for a young former slave named Perscillis. Not knowing much about life apart from her work on the farm in North Carolina and intrusive thoughts of painful memories stemming from being left by herself to tend for a full family, she makes a choice to cross the country with her new found companion, a young Irish man who has something he needs to prove, wether he knows it or not.
