In modern times, Unrequited love or one-sided love is love that is not openly reciprocated or understood as such by the beloved. Victims of unrequited love often leads to negative feelings such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem or even lack of Euphoria 



But in Ancient Times, these astral influence ordained by heavenly punishers of this world impute a more painful retribution as vengeance for an indicted romance between the victim and the perpetrator called: "A Hanahaki Disease", in which a person bearing an unrequited love coughs up flower petals of their beloved's favorite flower until they die if their feelings are received back after bearing unreciprocated at first. It can be cured through surgical removal, but when the infection is removed, the victim's romantic feelings for their love also disappear

hanahaki / hän.ä.hä.kî / a rare disease caused due to the feeling of unrequited love. In most cases the diagnosed is known to experience excessive coughing sessions and throwing out flower petals of their beloved's favourite kind of flower accompanied by some blood and/or mucus. Some other symptoms might include chest pains, shortage of breaths and fainting. Methods of treatment and cure are yet to be discovered. Surprisingly, Wen Junhui of Seventeen is rumoured to be diagnosed with the disease and not so surprisingly, the rumours are true. Junhui does indeed cough up the blue primrose petals from time to time, Joshua's favourite kind. They suddenly stop by the time he had started coughing up the individual petals of 3-4 Primroses. Junhui is happy, with himself and his beloved who seems inclined to stay by his side. One unfortunate night and they are back again. Way more vigilant in their stance this time. Will he survive it this time as well?? TW: angst, character death (if you want to put it that way)

Hanahaki Disease: a condition in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. - Laiken Parker has always had a serious problem, that being his constant habit of developing feelings for people way too fast and ultimately getting his heart broken. It all ends the same way, and one could even say he's used to it. He's pretty accustomed to feeling such an emotion so intensely. Speaking of intense emotions, while he can love with a passion, he can also detest with one as well. The subject to that being the one person whose sole purpose seems to be to make his life pretty much hell. Okay, maybe that's a bit of an extreme, but he's never been one to underestimate. Again, intensities are kind of his thing. His love habit had never bothered him to a point to really do much about it. He'd never really thought about any health consequences. He'd always assumed that he'd eventually either stop feeling altogether or, though far less likely, actually found his happily ever after.
