John and Jane are your average teenagers who attend Drewsville High School, who happen to share a mutual love for Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, and all things considered sleuth-worthy. They dream of following in the footsteps of their role models in becoming sleuths themselves.
It was Halloween. As usual, everyone would go out to trick or treat or, for the bigger kids, go to the party at a house on the same street as an old cemetery that happened to be at the very end of the neighborhood. Brandon, the school bully, and his minions play an annual Halloween prank to dig up a grave and throw kids in it, and this year the victims were no other than John and Jane. They leave them there for a while, with the intention of coming back and taking them out. They forget and by the time they do remember, the graves are empty, except for the old bones that laid there in the first place. Where were they? Did someone take them out? Did they find a way out? No one knew.
John and Jane, terrified from being locked in a casket, open their eyes to find themselves on the ground staring into the bright sky. They soon realize they are in the wrong place, but not only that- they are in the wrong time. John and Jane now have an imperative task at hand: to find a way back to their original timeline. While they try to figure out how to do so, they help to solve old cases in the meantime, and be the sleuths they always wanted to be.
