Shun's father left before he was born, and no explanation was ever given except that he simply had to leave. 

    Shun was alone. His mother died, leaving him to be raised by his grandfather in the ways of the ninja and kept as far away from the game of Bakugan as possible, the only exception being Skyress, a legendary Ventus bakugan given to him by his late mother. 

   Now, he has helped Dan and his friends defeat Masquerade, save New Vestroia, and end an intergalactic war between Gundalia and Neathia, and the Bakugan Battle Brawlers have risen to the top. Life was finally starting to look a little brighter for Shun Kazami...
