Dream lives in Faelynn, an elf kingdom filled with.. well, elves. He's one of the most respected and wealthiest ones, following in his family's footsteps as society tells him what to do.

But for the people, controlling what he looks and acts like isn't enough. So, his family decides to arrange a marriage with the princess to boost his reputation, both in their view and the people's view, the ones who watch his every move.

At this point he's given up on trying to stand up for himself, but when he meets the princess, she makes him think otherwise. She doesn't love him at all, and likewise. In fact, she likes a whole other gender.
