You'd expect every teen to have everything, maybe not everything but not far from it but you see Ivy's live was far worse. She doesn't have a normal family with her mother gone her father is devastated but you see he doesn't cope like any other father would no, after his wife is gone he takes it out on Ivy.
At the start she still loved him but as the years of abuse got worse she came to hate him hard.
