Long after Asterclaw's betrayal, Russetspaw is given his medicine cat name: Russetshine. In his dreams the following night, he meets Asterclaw, the medicine cat from seasons before he was born. When he awakes, his mentor Starlingsong warns Russetshine to never speak with Asterclaw again.
At the time of Starlingsong's death by greencough, the deputy, Mountaindew must become leader to replace Smokestar, who lost her last life from greencough as well. Russetshine and Mountainstar must navigate how to lead RiverClan together, or die trying. Oh, and Asterclaw seems to be getting more and more impatient as well. That's probably not good...
