In a life of chaos she had only known pain. Alessandra understood that to live does not simply mean to be alive, but to survive. As a young girl she had been naive enough to think that life held a beauty that she couldn't deny. A young boy had made it convincing enough at least for the few years he was there until he disappeared like everything else in her life. It wasn't until she physically felt the horrors that took place around her and the memories that consumed her did she realize, life was better when she was numb.

There was smoke in the air that night. Sirens that wailed in the distance but all I could see were the eyes of a man that faulted me. He was familiar. A light in the night that was far out of reach. It had been too long.

It was surreal. Blinding. In the years that came I ached and dwelled within it.

Now all I wanted was to be free.

Free of torment and destruction.

Free of pain.
