His best friends Arataki Itto and Kuki Shinobu were with him through thick and thin, and despite being an orphan, he was happy with his life. Until one day, when he was fifteen, the apartment he and his younger sister lived in was ransacked. His sister was killed. As her guardian, it fell to Masahiro to arrange for her funeral ceremony.
