Caroline Austin is dazed and confused when she comes home one night to find old letters addressed to her. She finds them in one of her old books and discovers that she had an admirer from ten years ago. The letters all have one thing in common, they are signed by a man named "J".

Caroline has always known she lost her memory when she was younger, but never bothered to regain it. Finding the letters, however, motivates her. Everyday, she reads one and discovers why she is the way she is.

In between, Caroline meets one of her clients best men, Josh Ramsay. After their first meeting, she finds him conceited and annoying. Josh thinks different. He takes an instant liking to the plain girl and decides to make a bet with her. If he can make her fall in love with him by the end of his friend's wedding, he can kiss her and she will be his.

There are two problems with that though, Josh's girlfriend, Amanda, and "J".
