Leilani (or "Lani") Kealoha isn't like how everyone interoperates her to be and isn't who she is supposed to be - but is this a bad thing?

Lani lives on figure eight, the wealthy side of North Carolina's very own Outer Banks. Her mother likes to keep things up to standards. By this I mean she would do anything to protect the reputation of her family after building it up for many years. Her father however he was...well - a dick to put it briefly. He had never treated her right, god forbid "protected" her like her mother. Throughout her life Leilani has suffered from physical, verbal and mental abuse from her father, and despite her mother wanting to "protect her family" ('s reputation, Lani claims), not once has her mother defended her when she knows very well it happens. Now Leilani has always been manipulated by people around her - I mean, you couldn't blame them with how easy it comes. All her life Leilani has always done something wrong in her family's eyes, so can you blame the girl for being a people-pleaser and doing anything to help anyone around her or bring them joy? Sadly, no matter how many attempts, she will never please her parents. Her friends are limited, but she's well know for being extroverted and outgoing to anyone in her proximity. None of this is a problem, but will it be when she meddles with the "wrong" side of the island?
