I register the popping sounds as gunshots. Immediately my brain thinks 'War'. All of a sudden it feels like someone is tightening their hands around my throat and I can't breath. I clutch my chest and try to take deep breaths, but I can't breathe. I feel my mums hand on my back and I realise I've slowed down a bit. I forget about what's going on around me and I just push forward, as fast as my legs will carry me. War has broken out in Maddy Richard's city of Chicago. She has to prove to herself that she can survive without having to rely on someone else. As she ventures through the city, she has to face things that she has never encountered before.
