Among the rubble of what remains of a house, little Ivar, only three years old, finds a baby girl still wrapped in swaddling clothes. She is taken to Kattegat, where she will grow up with the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok. But what fate awaits Ivar and the baby? Two best friends, bound by deep feelings, find themselves torn apart by betrayal: he betrays her, and she flees, helped by someone very close to Ivar.
