Not long before the Rebellion started, the 69th Hunger Games occurred. Some tributes that year knew they would die right away, Others, like the Careers, thought they would win, and took a large advantage of their fighting skills. But what would you do if you were in one of the Career districts, and you were reaped for the Games? Follow the perspective of Topaz Wiscia, a young girl in District 1 voted for the Hunger Games. But she is different than the other Careers. She refuses to join the other Careers in their bloody quest to kill everybody else. Besides, she'd probably get killed. Unlike the other teenagers in District 1, her family did not want her to be in the Games, and only started training her at age 12. She's 17, has 3 extra slips in the reaping because of tesserae, and still hasn't gotten the hang of things. With her slightly low chances of winning, will Topaz ever make it past the bloodbath, the arena - and back to the family and friends she loves?
