Naruto and Sasuke were the only ones left. Every one of their people had been killed by the goddess. The people who fought the war by their side, all of them.
They try to fix events that led up to this moment, Kaguya's victory. They were about to seal her, but she got away. Now everyone is dead, due to them not being able to seal her. They try again, this time, determined not to let everything fall apart again. Protecting the people, just how it was supposed to be.
Going back in time seems like a dream from a children's novel, doesn't it?

Time To Fuck Up The Timeline
Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, Shikamaru, and Gaara were 22 when they won the war. They were the only survivors out of the entire world. Guess it wasn't much of a victory after all.
