Madara realises his mistake too late as he has already initiated plan 'Tsuki No Me' with Tobi and zetsu. Now realising this he intends to correct it by finding a new successor to stop Tobi and bring world peace. 
Madara takes on Naruto and infuses his and hashirama's cells in Naruto's body. And teaches him ways of shinobi and urging him to find peace and stop Tobi.
