There are many trials and tribulations in the game of love, especially if you're gay in the 80's. Scratch that, especially if you've had to face life and death situations. Trauma doesn't even begin to describe Hawkins and the world Surrounding it- or under it.
Riley Macchio moves from sunny California to get away from her past, Only to find out that Hawkins, Indiana is much worse than Los Angeles and her life takes a turn for the worst. And in the mix, she ends up meeting Robin Buckley.
Riley has a dark past she knows nothing about, She also has a secret she doesn't know about. Has the scar over her wrist always been there? Has she always been able to create explosions with her voice? Has she always been able to hear peoples obscure thoughts? She thinks the world is ending, but maybe it's just her past finally catching up to her.
Is the world really ending? Or is it just the illusion of Hawkins?

Granted, most of them were in middle school and were major nerds, but that didn't bother her. She even joined in on some of their DnD campaigns whenever they invited her. It was fun, that was until one of the kids, Will, went missing. Along the way to finding him, (Y/N) befriends some people from her own school, including the goody-two-shoes Nancy Wheeler, and her boyfriend, Steve "The Hair" Harrington. She never really understood why everyone was obsessed with Steve. Or was everyone obsessed with his hair? She never knew. He could be a real asshole sometimes, too. But for whatever reason, she finds herself becoming closer with him the more they hang out.
