The ending should have been predictable, like the morning to night, from the moment the word "love" became known in life. The world may look highly upon the feelings of love, but one's love died in the depths of the sea. Yeonjun had waited far too long, and as the waters became colder, so did his heart. The sea drowns Yeonjun's sorrows because he is afraid of being alone in this world while Soobin is with someone else.
