Ray has always found Hawkins creepy. He blames it on his own imagination and sometimes, on the weed. The blurry memory of that one night at Steve's, of Barbara Holland being snatched away by a faceless monster remains exactly that --- a made-up story of his intoxicated mind --- until an awfully familiar curly haired runaway shows up at his doorstep, claims to have witnessed a cult murder and asks for a place to stay. Suddenly, Ray isn't sure what's real and what isn't.
