Sam Cooke was the most important soul singer in history, along with being the inventor of soul music, African American singer Sam Cooke was the most popular and beloved performer in both the black and white communities during his times.

He reinvented himself as a romantic crooner in the manner of Nat King Cole. His strength was in his smoothness. He wrote many of his best songs himself, including his first hit, the ethereal "You Send Me," which shot to number one on all charts in 1957 and established Cooke as a superstar.

One of the most important songs that Sam Cooke ever wrote was "A Change Is Gonna Come." In 1963, as he was writing his RCA album Ain't That Good News, Cooke was in a transition moment.

Sadly he was not able to be here, and see how popular his music has become and how big A Change Is Gonna Come has become.

She was a singer. He was a painter. Both were artists... Elle. That was the name the world knew her by. But that was not really her name, and no one knew who she really was, except for the fact that she was a well known singer and songwriter. At twenty, Michelle left the small town she knew, wanting more for herself and to explore more outside of the small town of Maven she grew up in. By twenty one, she was known as the new and upcoming R&B artist from her first self-released debut. Over the years she traveled from place to place for all her performances. By the time she was able to take a break from her overwhelming life as a musician, she realized that she was able to keep her past behind her. But, it was now four years since she left Maven, Virginia, and an unexpected text from her mother changed that all. She found out her sister was getting married and that she needed to be there. Going back to her hometown four years later she was sure to get an earful from her family for her abrupt disappearance. But, that wouldn't be all she'd have to explain... © ARTIUMWRITES
