Eight years after a massive apocalyptic meteor storm hits Earth, a small group of people living in what they call The Village are struggling to protect their home. A young woman with mysterious abilities comes across their cow pen, and in her attempt to take a calf she is captured by The Village protectors, known as The Fighters. Tensions run high in The Village as most of its occupants push for the mysterious woman to be executed. One girl in particular fights for the life of the captured girl to be spared.
This book will tell the story of Ellie, the girl fighting for the captures life, and Violet, the captured. As Ellie fights for Violet to live, they are forced to leave the place Ellie called home for the last 5 years, and fend for themselves in the dangerous land that the Earth has become. Laden with mutated species and scavenging survival groups, Ellie and Violet do their best to protect themselves and the people who join them.
