Abigail LaRusso is a single parent to a seventeen-year-old teenager named Danielle 'Dani' LaRusso. Dani was very young when her mother found out that her father 'died' during the Vietnam War. Devastated, Abigail left California and took her young daughter to New Jersey to live with her cousin, Lucille LaRusso.

Many years later, in 1984, Abigail gets a job offer to work at the newest Italian Bakery and Cafe called La Bella Luna in Los Angeles, California as their Head Manager. Despite not being in California for so many years, she agreed to represent the New Jersey branch because she wanted to support her daughter financially. 

However, Abigail did not expect to see a ghostly figure from her past working at a Martial Arts Dojo called Cobra Kai in the same plaza as her Bakery.

Being Daniel LaRusso's son wasn't always easy for Ashton. People expected him to be the friendly, helpful guy his father was. Daniel LaRusso, the smart, intelligent, All-Valley Karate Tournament champion, and successful car dealership owner, cast a long shadow. While Ashton's sister embraced this image, Ashton resented it.
