There is this girl called Dakota and she is pretty shy. She is what you call the typical quite girl. Most people say that she is mute because of her lack of speaking but that isn't true. She does speak a lot but only in front her own family members. Dakota has her problems that keeps her from speaking up against the school bully, Kristina. She is so perfect but she ruins it by bulling Dakota. She beats all the emotions out of her whether it be physically or mentally or even both. These things continue to happen and Dakota starts to get desperate and does something that will change the course of her life. In other words, anyone around you can smile and laugh all they want but once they are by themselves... they break completely. This book touches on sensitive topics that have scarred and hurt people of all colors, ethnicities, nationalities, sexualities and genders. There are mentions of hate crimes, racism, manipulation, depression, self harm, suicide, and sexual and mental abuse. If you have experienced any of these things, my heart goes out to you.
