Andie Turner returns home for the summer when she's guaranteed a job as a camp counsellor with her old private school friends, who are unaware of her family secrets and the reason she left four months ago.
After their ride to the camp breaks down, Andie is rescued by her ex-best friend Grayson Hadfield, who she learns will be spending the summer as her co-counsellor. When Andie reunites with her friends, she comes to realize things aren't they way they used to be when she left. Secrets unfold, problems arise, and the two enemies are forced to face the hard truths of their relationship and their fallout.
But when an unexpected prize raises the stakes of her job and she finally addresses the fight with Grayson that ended their lifelong friendship, Andie has to decide whether the money is the only thing she came back for before she leaves at the end of summer.

"You shouldn't need to drink to try and drown your feelings Kayla. I've watched the people around me do this all my life and it doesn't fix anything." "I know it won't fix anything, but for right now it helps me forget" "You can't keep running away or hiding. In the end it all catches up." "You sound like you've been through this before." "I guess you could say that." "You want me to open up to you, but are you ever going to open up to me? I want to get to know you Tyler, but you are so closed off. You know why I got knocked over by that wave? Because I was watching you, I was watching your face and seeing how free you felt riding that wave. It's the only time I've ever seen you let go. You know that someone hurt me, but I think you have been hurt too. When you're ready to talk, I'll be waiting. Maybe we can help each other." "Maybe I'm not worth getting to know" he replied. "And maybe I'm not worth you trying to save me either. Or maybe I am" With that I got up and left him to think about what I said. I put my cards on the table, now it was up to him to make the next move. ******** A year ago, Kayla had it all, doting parents and a relationship with her older brother that others envied. By the end of junior year that changed, she's left broken after a series of events in her life, but she is determined to hide her pain from her friends and enjoy the summer. That is until she meets Tyler, who can see right through the hurt. He has his own secrets though and isn't ready to let anyone in. Together they will either fall apart or fall together.

While seventeen year old Caroline Sebas' parents are working out their divorce, she travels from North Carolina to Florida for the summer, where she stays with her Aunt Kara. Caroline plans on holing up on the shore all summer with a good book, sure she'll be unable to make any friends because of the fact that she is practically a social repellent. This is until Caroline meets the girl next door, Paige Hawthorne, who has a gorgeous older brother, Dean. When Dean and Caroline adjust to each other, they get a little too comfortable and make one little slip up that jeopardizes the entire summer, causing them each to keep a secret from Paige and their other friends.
